‘It’s quite simple’ – Neal Maupay gives update on Brentford and Everton future

Neal Maupay has revealed Brentford did not trigger an option to make his loan move from Everton permanent.
The forward spent the last season on loan back at Brentford from Everton.
It was his second spell with the Bees and the Frenchman scored six Premier League goals in 29 games.
The 27-year-old signed for the Toffees from Brighton in August 2022 and penned a three-year contract.
That means he still has one year left on his current deal at Goodison Park.
Giving an update on his future, Maupay told talkSPORT Breakfast: "I think it's pretty simple. I was on loan at Brentford last season. They had an option. They haven't taken it yet.
"So they had to the end of June and then I will be back next week at Everton."
Whatever club he ends at next season, he will certainly be winding up opponents wherever he goes.
Last season he drew the ire of James Maddison by copying his darts celebration. He then appeared to reignite their feud by posting a picture in front of a darts board after Maddison was left out the England Euro 2024 squad.
Matteo Guendouzi once grabbed Maupay by the throat while he was playing for Brighton.
But the striker insists he never plans anything, it all just seems to happen.
He added: "No, no, I don't plan anything. I think it's just sometimes emotions in a game and it just happens.
"I'm not trying to do it in every game or to certain players. It just happens."
