Fabio Carvalho has admitted he has been left encouraged after seeing the likes of Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah handed first-team opportunities at Liverpool.

Carvalho is yet to receive regular game time since signing for the Reds two years ago after being limited to cameo appearances during his debut campaign in 2022/23 before being loaned out to RB Leipzig and later Hull City last term.

Taking his chance at Hull, the 21-year-old scored an impressive nine goals in 20 Championship appearances and will be hoping his performances have caught the attention of Arne Slot.

The new Liverpool manager will soon decide whether to send Carvalho back out on loan for the upcoming season or keep him on Merseyside to utilise as part of his squad.

With Jurgen Klopp no longer around, Carvalho has admitted he loved working with the German and his approach to Academy prospects.

“Incredible, on a day to day basis, he just wants to help you,” he told Rising Ballers of Klopp. "We went through difficult times when I was there in my first season and he was always helping, always trying to get the best out of players, especially young players.

“We’ve seen this season, I’ve been on loan but he’s given a lot of chances to the young players. Conor Bradley’s come in, Jarell [Quansah] and they’ve taken their chances. That’s what it’s all about.

“No matter which team you go to, there’s always going to be big names. But if the young players are performing, then you should give them a chance and that’s what he’s done. That’s what he’s implementing within the club, that’s what the club’s about and that’s where you want to be.”

Also asked to weigh in with his opinion on Trent Alexander-Arnold's lack of minutes at international level for England and what Gareth Southgate should be doing with his Liverpool team-mate, Carvalho added: “He’s got to play there [in midfield]! He’s got too much tech [technical ability] not to play there."
