MIDDLESBROUGH and Matthew Hoppe will hope his future can be resolved when the MLS transfer window opens later this month.
Hoppe doesn't feature in Boro's plans and hasn't travelled to Portugal with the squad, with the striker instead training back at the club's Rockliffe base with the Under-21s.
Having been unable to force his way into Michael Carrick's thoughts, an exit suits all parties this summer, with a return to his homeland most likely. The MLS' secondary transfer window is open from Thursday, July 18 through to Saturday, August 31.
Hoppe had a short stint back in the MLS last season with San Jose Earthquakes but they opted against making his deal permanent and he returned to Boro at the back end of last year.

But he didn't play a minute in the second half of the Championship season and was only named on the bench on three occasions.
Hoppe had a big breakthrough in Germany with Schalke early in his career but a move to RCD Mallorca didn't work out and that's also been the case at Boro.
The 23-year-old is yet to make a Championship start and has only made six substitute appearances since joining the club two summers ago.
He still has two years to run on his contract at Boro but opportunities will be hard to come by at Teesside so a move this summer feels like the best outcome so the striker can try and get his career back on track.
