ROSS COUNTY have booted out bids from Dundee and Hibs for star man Simon Murray.

Staggies chiefs are scrapping to keep the hitman, who scored 23 goals last season, instead of losing him to direct Premiership rivals.

Murray is in the final 12 months of his deal in the Highlands so both Dundee and Hibs believe they can prise him out of Dingwall.

But County have rejected both offers so far as they’ve fallen below what they believe is the market rate for a player on the back of such a prolific season.

Hibs gaffer David Gray is a former team-mate of Murray’s from his previous spell at Easter Road in 2017/18, where he scored seventeen times, so has made landing him a priority in this window.

While Dundee know Murray well from a loan spell he spent with his hometown club the following year.

So County, who are set to land Cliftonville striker Ronan Hale after agreeing a fee for the Northern Irishman, are now braced for increased interest in Murray this week.

Meanwhile, a former teammate of Murray's at Hibs - Scott Allan - is back in Scottish football.

The 32-year old ex-Dundee United and Celtic midfielder has joined Kelty Hearts in a player-coach role.

Allan joined Northern Irish Premiership side Larne last summer on a season-long loan deal from Arbroath.

But now he's back in Scotland with the League One outfit.

Kelty said: "We are delighted to welcome Scott Allan as Michael Tidser's latest addition ahead of the new season.

"The experienced midfielder, who counts Dundee United, West Brom, Hibs and Celtic amongst his former clubs, joins us at New Central Park having picked up a Northern Ireland Championship medal with Larne last season whilst on loan from Arbroath.

"Scott will also be assisting as part of the coaching team in his role at the club.
