Simon Murray to join Dundee over Hibs as Ross County accept Dens offer for striker

Murray is set to join Dundee whose perseverance has paid off in the hunt for the striker

Simon Murray is set to rejoin his boyhood heroes at Dundee. Ross County have accepted a six figure offer from the Dark Blues for their top scorer.

Hibs were also in for the 32-year-old but a return to the City of Discovery was his preference for family reasons, but Dundee were in first and Tony Docherty’s perseverance has paid off. Ross County had tried to convince Murray to remain in the Highlands but it was almost impossible because of the player’s personal circumstances. County reluctantly accepted Dundee’s bid after they had got a deal for Ronan Hale from Cliftonville over the line. Murray, who has also played for Dundee United, had a loan spell at Dundee back in 2018.

Record Sport columnist Tam McManus had urged Hibs to move fast for Murray but they are now set to miss out on the striker who scored 23 goals last season. He's heading to Dens where he will look to help Tony Docherty's team go one better than last season's top six finish.
