Why Kasper Schmeichel to Celtic transfer has been delayed as timeline for Brendan Rodgers' reunion emerges

The Denmark international is set to become reunite with his former Leicester City boss at Celtic Park.

Kasper Schmeichel has been made to wait for his move to Celtic after his medical was delayed.

The Danish international is nearing a move to the Scottish champions as a free agent after his Anderlecht expired - where he will reunite with Brendan Rodgers. The 37-year-old won the FA Cup during his time at Leicester under the boss - and will be keen to lift more silverware alongside the Irishman when he becomes the Hoops' first signing of the summer.


Fans have been keen to see Joe Hart's successor unveiled with Celtic in dire need of a new No. 1 this summer with Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist filling the void between the sticks in pre-season clashes with Ayr United and Queen's Park. Celtic are set to jet out for the US in the coming tour where Rodgers will ramp up his pre-season plans with glamour friendlies against Manchester City, Chelsea and DC United.

However, Danish outlet Tipsbladet have revealed that the deal had been set to be completed last weekend - before a delay to Schmeichel's medical in Italy put the brakes on a transfer. It is stated that "the clinics in Italy moved the time to Tuesday."

His future will now be settled "within the next day" as he the Denmark international makes his move to the Premiership. The veteran shot-stopper will then join his new teammates and former boss in the USA on Thursday.
