Norwich City star Kenny McLean has moved to cool interest from Rangers.

Record Sport revealed that the Scotland international has been placed on Philippe Clement and his recruitment team's list of summer targets. The former Aberdeen and St Mirren playmaker had been tracked by the Light Blues' scouting team at the end of the season and while at Euro 2024.

Speculation over a move has exploded in recent days with Sheffield also being linked with a move, but the 32-year-old has now returned to Carrow Road and is ramping up his pre-season preparations with the Canaries. He is currently with Johannes Hoff Thorup's side on their pre-season tour of Belgium and made his first appearance since returning from international duty in the 1-1 draw with Standard Liege.

And asked about the prospect of an exit amid links with the Scottish Premiership, the boyhood Rangers fan pointed to his current contract which has two years left to run plus a year’s option. He told the Norwich Evening News: “I don’t think that I need to speak too much on it, to be honest, in terms of if it’s true or not. It isn’t affecting me at all.

“I’m here, I want to be here and I’ll continue to be here. I’m looking forward to Oxford. I’ve always had a good relationship with the fans and I’ll continue that for the next couple of years. I hope [the contract] does speak volumes. It was a pretty similar situation last year when there was talk and I committed my future to the football club. The football club also committed to me. I don’t see why that would change.”
