Everton are progressing in talks to sign Denmark and Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom on an initial loan agreement with an £18m option to buy

  • Jesper Lindstrom, 24, made 22 appearances for Napoli in Serie A last season
  • Winger spent only one season with the Italian club after moving from Frankfurt
  • He is set to be the third addition to the Toffees first-team in this transfer window

Everton are progressing in talks for Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom.

The Denmark international has agreed on the move and talks are ongoing around a loan agreement for around £2million with an option to buy around £18m for the 24-year-old.

Terms are still to be agreed but talks are positive.

Sean Dyche saw his team struggle to convert an abundance of chances last season. Their profligacy could have seen them suffer a disastrous relegation but the Toffees eventually eased their way away from the relegation fight despite points deductions.

Lindstrom spent only one season in Naples having joined the previous summer from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Dane made 22 appearances in Serie A as the reigning champions put up a lousy defence of their top-flight title.

Napoli went through three managers in their lacklustre campaign: Rudi Garcia, Walter Walter Mazzarri and Francesco Calzona - who went on to take Slovakia agonisingly close to beating England in the last-16 of Euro 2024.

The side, who eventually finished 10th in the standings, have installed former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Antonio Conte at the helm for the upcoming season.

The addition of Lindstrom will come as some relief to Toffees fans who saw club favourite Amadou Onana depart for Aston Villa for a fee of £50m fee on Monday.

Onana joined Everton in 2022 for £33m and racked up 72 appearances for the side, serving as a key player in their battles against relegation.

Mail Sport reported almost two months ago that Onana was likely to leave Goodison Park this summer amid financial pressures ramping up on the Merseyside club.
