RYAN KENT made a shock return to Fenerbahce's starting XI last night as Jose Mourinho put his faith in the winger for their qualifier against Lugano.

The ex-Rangers star, 27, is believed to be on his way out of the Istanbul club this summer following the arrival of the former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea boss.

Kent joined Fenerbahce on a free transfer last summer after leaving Ibrox at the end of his contract but the move to Turkey hasn't gone to plan.

Despite a promising start in pre-season under former manager Ismail Kartal, Kent was quickly dumped from the team and found himself out of favour, with the club keen to sell him in January.

He was lined up for a shock move to Lazio on deadline day but the move collapsed in the final stages.

It was suggested at the time that it was Kent's decision to walk away from the transfer.

He remained on the sidelines for the next few months before being given a potential lifeline when Mourinho took over.

It was a fresh start for the ex-Rangers and Liverpool man but it didn't last long as it was revealed that the wideman had been put on the transfer list by Mourinho, who wants to offload at least SIX foreign players to free up space for new signings.

But despite that, Kent has still been heavily involved in pre-season in recent weeks and was given runouts against Petrolul, Admira Wacker, Hajduk Split and Strasbourg.

He even got on the score-sheet against Strasbourg as he netted his side's third goal in the 4-0 win.

And last night, he was given the nod to start the club's crucial second round qualifier with Swiss side Lugano.

Fenerbahce came out on top in the chaotic seven goal thriller in Switzerland to put themselves in the driving seat for the return leg in Turkey.

Edin Dzeko netted a hat-trick before Ferdi Kadioglu scored his side's fourth in the second half.

Kent never managed to get himself on the score-sheet or involved in any of the goals.

He found himself plastered all over social media instead.

The winger played 68 minutes before Mourinho hooked him, and supporters were clearly delighted to see him make way.

And they hope it will be the last they see of him after growing tired of his disappointing displays.

So much so that many have urged the club to lose him for NOTHING.

One fan hit out: "Terminate his contract immediately."

Another said: "Ryan Kent's Fenerbahce career must be over."

A third insisted: "He just cannot wear this jersey anymore!!!"

While a fourth said: ""Ryan Kent should leave this club as soon as possible. I don't care if it's for free."

Someone event went as far as claiming they don't enjoy watching the sport when he is on the pitch.

One comment read: "Ryan Kent has ruined my love for football."

Kent still has three years left on his contract in Istanbul and reports from Turkey last week suggested that he has told club chiefs that he WON'T leave the team anytime soon.

It's suggested that he has finally found his feet in Turkey and wants to fight for his place at the club this season.
