Real Sociedad chief sends Takefusa Kubo transfer message to Liverpool as stance confirmed

Latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip with Real Sociedad forward Takefusa Kubo continuing to be linked with a move to Anfield

Real Sociedad's club president has provided an update on Takefusa Kubo's future amid links of a transfer to Liverpool. The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing the 23-year-old in recent weeks as the wait for the first new arrival at Anfield goes on.

New sporting director Richard Hughes has been overseeing Liverpool's transfer business this summer. However, the Reds are yet to make any new signings but do have until September 2 to complete their transfer business

Kubo is one of the latest players to be linked with signing for Liverpool. The forward is reported to have a €60 million (£51 million) release clause in his contract at Sociedad, with some suggestions that the Reds may be willing to either activate the clause or offer a higher fee to pay in installments.

However, Sociedad club president Jokin Aperribay has spoken about Kubo's future with the La Liga club amid the speculation. Aperribay has confirmed that no club, including Liverpool, is in talks with Sociedad about signing Kubo and outlined the determination to keep the forward at the Reale Arena.

"There is no issue. There are no negotiations with any club," Aperribay told Mundo Deportivo about Kubo's future.

"We’re in the market, anything can happen, but Take is very happy here and he’s going to continue. We love him very much, let’s hope he stays at La Real forever."

Kubo performs on the right wing for both Sociedad and the Japan national team. The rumours linking the forward with Liverpool have seen speculation around Mohamed Salah's future increase.

Salah and Kubo both play on the right wing, and with Salah's contract currently expiring next summer a move this summer for the Sociedad star may lead to more speculation around the Reds No.11. It remains to be seen if Liverpool and Salah will find an agreement over a new contract in the weeks or months to come.
