Orlando City SC shares the Lagues Cup Group M with Montreal, and Liga MX's San Luis. The two MLS teams faced each other this Friday during the tournament inauguration in Orlando, it was an abslute massacre for Montreal. During the first half, Dagur Dan Thorhallsson opened the score at around the seventh minute with a well-placed shot from outside of the box. Ten minutes before half time, Facundo Torres scored the second goal after connecting a cross from the right flank. Just as the half time whistle was about to sound, Cartagena found Ramiro Enrique with a through ball between the lines and got the 3-0 before going to the locker rooms. At half time, it was already a massacre that Orlando City would just have to navigate in the second half.

Ojeda seals the deal for Orlando City FC

Eleven minutes into the second half, Facu Torres got through a wonderful lobbed pass to Ojeda for the fourth goal. It was a gorgeous assist from the Charrua star. Ten minutes after that, Montreal puled one back through Yosef Martinez, who wasn't able to do much in order to prevent the first loss for Montral during the start of this crowded Leagues Cup. It's going to be a long road ahead with 15 groups fighting for Concacaf Supremacy between teams from both the MLS and Liga MX. It's important to note that Inter Miami shares Group N with Puebla and Tigres. Hopefully, we can get to see Messi play this tournament after he recovers from his injury.

Orlando City SC will try to continue in this journey when they face San Luis on August 4. They are also currently in seventh place of the MLS Eastern Conference. They sit there with 34 points while the main rivals in the state of Florida have the top of the table with 53 points. For CF Montreal, the situation is even more dire as they are eleventh in the Eastern Conference and they just started off on the wrong foot. This tournament is the ideal way to find out which of both soccer leagues in North America is the most competitive. Would you choose MLS or Liga MX?
