Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr believes one teammate is the top five in the world in his position.
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a key second season after a promising debut campaign for the club which was slightly curtailed by injuries to key players.
The Lilywhites have signed Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray this summer but relying on players already at the club may well be key for Postecoglou’s side.
Midfielder Pape Matar Sarr was one of the players who came on leaps and bounds under the tutelage of the Australian and the Senegalese midfielder has been keen to praise one key defender.

Matar Sarr hails Pedro Porro as the top five in his position
Another player who made a big impact for Postecoglou’s side last season was Spanish right-back Pedro Porro who nailed down a starting spot under the Australian.
Last season for Spurs, Porro featured in 35 Premier League games for the Lilywhites, scoring three goals and providing seven assists as he became a key attacking outlet under the Australian.
Speaking to the SpursPlay website, the Senegalese midfielder was keen to praise the right-back and the importance he has in the team. As well as this, Sarr made a rather bold statement about the defender.
“He has a lot of energy,” Sarr told Tottenham’s website. “I like the way he plays and he’s in the top 5 right backs in the world for me.”
Postecoglou has always been a big fan of the right-back as he labelled the defender as ‘unbelievable’ last season.
Porro has made the right-back spot his own
The performances of Porro have been so impressive that this has led to Emerson Royal to consider his future in North London.
Royal urged Tottenham to allow him to leave the club this summer with HITC reporting that AC Milan are keen on the Brazilian.
With Porro showing no signs of his performances dipping, as well as being the undisputed first choice option for the club, Royal may well have to depart to get first team football next season.
