Partick Thistle left stewing after Hampden SCREENSHOT error denies them chance to send on late sub in crucial cup match

PARTICK THISTLE have been left stewing after a SCREENSHOT error by a Hampden administrator denied them the chance to make a late sub.
The Jags took on Motherwell this afternoon knowing a win would be enough to send them into the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup.
With the score still at 0-0 late into the contest, Thistle boss Kris Doolan tried to send on striker Ricco Diack to look for the goal that would have sent them through.
Doolan was told by the fourth official he couldn’t send on the forward as he wasn’t listed on the team sheet.
But it turns out Thistle HAD registered Diack – but the SFA had taken a screen shot of it and chopped off the player’s name at the bottom of the list by mistake.
Now Doolan says the Firhill club will look to see if they can take it any further.
He told Premier Sports: “I’m a bit angry as I went to put a striker on and I was told that I couldn’t because he wasn’t on the team lines.
“Only for it to turn out that he WAS actually on the team lines and it was a bit of an error.
“We were putting a striker on to try to win the game and were then told he wasn’t listed on the team sheet so we couldn’t put him on.
“We think [at the time] that’s our error.
“But after the game we went to find out and he WAS on the team sheet from our side.
“It’s all done online now via an app.
“And unfortunately eight names out of the nine [subs] were screen shot and the ninth one was cut off.
“So the referees didn’t know that Ricco actually was on the team lines.
“We’re looking to win the game – it’s worth a lot of money to the club.
“It’s a good chance for us to go through and get that money.
“And unfortunately an error on the part of the COMET system has thrown that out of the park for us.
"I think we’d have to [speak to the SFA and SPFL about it].
“It’s the type of thing we don’t want to see in the game.
“We might have to go back to having paper team lines on the touchline as I don’t know how they get around it.
“You’ve got nine subs for Motherwell listed but only eight of ours because the ninth one was on the other page.
“It was screen shot and only eight showed up.
“I’m really disappointed in that.”
The COMET system for registering players was introduced by the SFA last month.
Both the SFA and the SPFL have been approached for comment.
