Rangers secure EIGHTH summer signing as Philippe Clement’s lands major target as rebuild continues

ROBIN PROPPER has become Rangers' eighth summer signing, joining the club from Dutch Eredivisie side Twente.
The 30-year-old will slot into the Light Blues' defence as a ready-made replacement for Connor Goldson.
The defender, who was Twente captain, makes the move to Glasgow following a 12-year career in the Netherlands.
He follows former teammate Vaclav Cerny in making the move to Rangers this summer.
Propper has made 190 Eredivisie appearances for three different clubs.
After starting his career at De Graafschap, he made the move to Heracles Almelo.
He joined Twente in 2021, and has since become the club captain, guiding his side to the Champions League qualifiers this season.
Now, Philippe Clement has found his replacement after the departure of Goldson to Cypriot club Aris Limassol.
And he might not have to wait too long to return to his former side.
Rangers could face Twente in the Champions League play-off round, should they succeed in advancing from their third qualifying round tie.
Clement's side will face Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv for a spot in the play-off round.
That's at the same time Twente take on Austrian powerhouse RB Salzburg and Lille of France take on Fenerbahce with Monday's draw set to decide which of the two is next in Rangers' path.
That could mean that Sam Lammers could be in line for a Rangers return, after he made the swap to Twente this week.
Propper, who takes over John Lundstram's old number 4 shirt with the Light Blues, spoke of his delight at joining the Gers.
He told the club website: “Rangers is a big club and it feels really good to be here.
“I was glad to hear about the club wanting to sign me. I always said I wanted to have a new adventure in another country and when a club like Rangers comes in for you it feels surreal.
“This club breathes football and you want to play your football here.
“I spoke to Cyriel Dessers and Vaclav Cerny and they only had nice things to say about the club. It’s nice to see some familiar faces.
“You hear about the Rangers fans and how it is here and I am really happy to be here.”
Rangers already confirmed the signings of Liam Kelly, Jefte, Connor Barron, Oscar Cortes, Clinton Nsiala, Hamza Igamane and recently-arrived Cerny.
But the Gers could yet to more business with another Dutchman, Marco van Ginkel, an option.
With Lammers and Goldson leaving the club in recent days, much needed funds have been made available for replacements.
Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland continues to be mentioned in connection with a switch form Edinburgh to Glasgow.
Jose Cifuentes has also been linked with a move to Greek side, Aris Thessaloniki.
