Diego Carlos transfer update after Aston Villa defender fuels speculation on social media
Aston Villa's Diego Carlos is generating interest in the final month of the summer transfer window
Diego Carlos could leave Aston Villa this month, but a return to Sevilla appears highly unlikely at this stage.
The Brazilian has two years remaining on his current deal and Villa are aware his value will depreciate after this transfer window. Carlos joined from Sevilla two years ago for £26m, but Diario de Sevilla report that the centre-back is 'not comfortable' at Villa.
Activity on his social media account in the past week has been questionable too as he replied to a message on Instagram suggesting a move to Sevilla was impossible, by commenting "Impossible?" with a thinking emoji. Meanwhile, Fulham are said to be interested in a move as Portuguese manager Marco Silva looks to add depth in his defence after losing Tosin Adarabioyo and Tim Ream could leave Craven Cottage with one year left on his deal.

Diario de Sevilla add that Sevilla have made it very clear that as things they have no plans to re-sign Carlos. They claim that the defender would have to take a big reduction in his salary, but insist he is keen to return.
Carlos missed almost all of his maiden campaign with Villa in 2022/23, but impressed for the most part last term as he helped the club finish in the top to qualify for Champions League football. He was sent off in the club's 2-0 pre-season friendly defeat to RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
The former Nantes defender will turn 32 next season and is one of several players who are in the final 24 months of their contracts. Tyrone Migns, Emi Buendia, Lucas Digne, Alex Moreno and Leander Dendoncker also have two years remaining on their deals.
Carlos played 38 matches in all competitions last season and scored in the Europa Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar in November of last year. If he was to leave the club this month, Villa will be prepared to replace him in the transfer market.
