Birmingham City have confirmed their squad numbers for the upcoming 2024/25 season and summer signing Alfie May has been handed the prestigious number nine jersey.

May has donned 20 in recent pre-season matches but the centre-forward, who top scored for Charlton in League One last term, will wear the number nine shirt in his maiden St Andrew's season. Mikael Forssell, Geoff Horsfield and Kevin Phillips are among the popular players to wear the shirt in recent years.

Interestingly, neither Bailey Peacock-Farrell or Ryan Allsop has taken the vacant number one shirt. Peacock-Farrell is expected to start the season as first choice but the former Burnley stopper has taken number 45. Allsop will wear 21.

Christoph Klarer has taken the number four, Emil Hansson will wear the seven shirt his compatriot Sebastian Larsson wore for Blues, Marc Leonard is number 12, Willum Willumsson 18 and Alex Cochrane 20. The club's most recent signing, Luke Harris, will wear number 26.

Manny Longelo and Juninho Bacuna haven't been given squad numbers as they look to secure moves away from Blues. Longelo was expected to join Barnsley but the deal hit a snag and the Tykes have since signed an alternative left-back. Bacuna, meanwhile, is expected to move to Saudi Arabia.
