Jack Clarke transfer speculation 'not a problem' for Sunderland after Cardiff goal

The Black Cats star was on target in the 2-0 win over Cardiff City but Regis Le Bris is relaxed over transfer links

Regis Le Bris reckons “it’s not a problem for me” that there is interest from other clubs in Jack Clarke and that his goal at Cardiff City only serves to fan the flames in that respect.

Clarke was Sunderland's top scorer with 15 goals last term and started this season with a bang with a trademark second goal for the Black Cats at Cardiff City in the Championship opener.

The dynamic winger was fed the ball by Job Bellingham on the left and he cut in on to his right foot as he did many times last term before firing the ball into the bottom corner.

When asked whether Clarke’s goal on Saturday means there is more focus on him and it is proof he is one of the club’s best players Le Bris said: “Yes but it’s not a problem in the transfer window. In the end the club I think is strong. They have been able to build a strong team with this type of player.

“I think Jack is able to continue to grow here and later become a very good player in the Premier League, I hope with Sunderland. But because we have many good players, many speculations are around our club and that’s normal. It’s not a problem for me.”

That first league win at Cardiff with his strongest team and he added: “It’s always interesting for the confidence, when we change something like the management or other elements. We need to believe it when we change something. When we have a league victory early in the season it helps to build this confidence I think.”

It is likely to be a much-changed team that takes on managerless Preston North End, tonight, in the League Cup first round.
