Danny Murphy has opened up on the time Jay-Jay Okocha humiliated him twice in one game and left the former Liverpool star 'raging'.

Okocha arrived at Bolton on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2002 and would make 142 appearances for the club before his departure in 2006.

Such was Okocha's impact at the club, he was named the best player to have ever played at the Reebok Stadium, now known as the MacronStadium.

The Nigerian winger's highlight compilations are plentiful as his slaloming runs past defenders left fans mesmerised.

Unfortunately for Murphy, he was one of many players made to look foolish by Okocha.

Murphy recounted his experience against Okocha on talkSPORT's The Shortlist as he and Darren Bent revealed their favourite 'streets won't forget' stars.

"He's the only player I ever played against who did two things to me in one game," Murphy said.

"The first one was a megs. I've been megged by other players, but it was a lovely one and he got around. I thought, 'Oh, I've dived in a bit, I've got to give this fella some respect.'

"The other one, he was stuck in a corner and he scooped one over my head. He scooped it over my head and got it the other side. You know when you're just raging. I couldn't get near him.

"He always played with a smile on his face. That freedom to try things that I wouldn't want to try in a game. And he could shoot."

Murphy added: "Just a free spirit. An absolute talent in skill, playing with that creativity."

Okocha scored 18 goals across and registered 10 assists in 145 appearances for Bolton.

During his four-year spell at Bolton under Sam Allardyce, Okocha helped the club qualify for the UEFA Cup as well as a run to the 2004 League Cup final.

He then departed the club in 2006 and moved to Qatar SC, before returning to England the following year to link up with Hull City in the Championship.

However, his one season with Hull was cruelled by injuries and fitness issues and was only able to feature 18 times for the Tigers in what was his last season in professional football.
