Alvyn Sanches a 'candidate' to replace Matt O'Riley, Idah reveals all on THAT missed flight - Celtic news bulletin

Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a host of midfield options as he looks to add to his squad.

Alvyn Sanches has been identified by Celtic as a potential Matt O'Riley replacement - but the Hoops face competition from across Europe, according to a report.

The Scottish champions have booted out a series of bids from Serie A outfit Atalanta for their star man O'Riley with the latest offer reaching £21.5million plus £2m in add-ons. The Premiership leaders are holding out for a fee in the bracket of the sales of Kieran Tierney and Jota with the Europa League holders having to up the ante to land their top target.

An exit from Parkhead has meant a host of names linked with coming into the club including Arne Engles at Augsburg and Liverpool's Waturu Endo. Dundee skipper Luke McCowan is another name being monitored by Celtic as they look to add rather to their squad ahead of competing both in the Champions League and domestically.

The Daily Mail state Lausanne's Sanches is the latest candidate on the list but Celtic would face competition from Nice, Club Brugge, Anderlecht and Burnley for the £4.3m rated 21-year-old.

Elsewhere, Adam Idah has opened up on THAT missed flight. Norwich City disciplined the striker in the wake of a summer saga of haggling between the Canaries and the Hoops over his signature but he insists it was an honest mistake.

He also revealed he found out his move to Celtic was ON via Sky Sports. He said: “It had nothing to do with me trying to leave, it was just a genuine mistake from myself. I did apologise to Norwich for that and they know it had nothing to do with trying to leave the club, trying to force a move, it was nothing to do with that. It was my fault and it got resolved pretty quick. I didn't really know what was going on myself. I actually found out on Sky Sports that it got done.

“I was just in my house and my mum rang me, so yeah, I phoned my agent and said just do what you need to do. And an hour after he rang me and said it was agreed and I said I know I've already seen it on TV! I’m just delighted to be here now.”
