Danilo has shared an update on social media after he broke his ankle during Nottingham Forest's 1-1 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday, reassuring fans that he is "fine"
Nottingham Forest star Danilo has revealed he is "fine" after suffering a horror injury in their Premier League opener against Bournemouth, leaving his team-mates distraught.
The incident occurred just eight minutes into the game and saw Danilo challenge Antoine Semenyo for the ball in the air, with the Brazilian landing awkwardly on his left leg. The match was paused for around ten minutes while he received treatment on the pitch, with blankets held up around him for privacy.
Danilo was eventually stretchered off with his leg in a splint and the 23-year-old has now offered an update on his condition. "Hey guys. I'm just stopping by to say that I'm fine, thank God, and I'm already home," he wrote in a post on his Instagram story.
"We'll be back soon. Thank you for all the messages of support." Danilo was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham for further treatment and Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has since revealed he broke his ankle.

"It's serious, we are going to miss him, not only on the pitch. He is a wonderful boy. He is always smiling, always with joy, and we wish him the best.
"Everybody loves him so much. He is leaving hospital just now and he is going to be assessed tomorrow. It is serious but the good news he is stable. He's speaking and aware, he just needs time."
Once the game resumed, Forest took the lead through Chris Wood, but Semenyo scored a late equaliser to earn Bournemouth a point. Reflecting on Danilo's injury after the game, Semenyo said: "I don't remember much.
"I just remember getting an elbow to the back of my head and landing on my arm. I didn't think anything of it but then I got up and saw he was being stretchered off. Sorry to him and I hope he [Danilo] recovers well.
"For 90 minutes you have to concentrate anyway, regardless of injuries. As soon as I got up everybody tried to boost my moral and confidence to keep going, I have to thank my teammates for that.
"As a team we knew we had to come out in the second half and make a difference. We'll take a point and on to the next."
