THEY’RE two young players who have captured the imagination in their short period playing in the Scottish Premiership.

And they’re two players who seem increasingly likely to be allowed to leave the club on loan or permanently by new ‘Pool boss Arne Slot before the transfer window closes next Friday.

Ben Doak needs little introduction to Celtic fans having stolen the show with a sparkling couple of cameos before he jumped ship to join the Anfield side in a deal which saw the Hoops net just £600k.

Would there be an appetite to pay top dollar to attract him back up – even on an intitial loan?

It remains to be seen, although Brendan Rodgers may relish the chance to work with a player who previously featured in the first team under Ange Postecoglou.

And the Hoops DO still have question marks in the wide areas and up front, especially with Kyogo suddenly at the centre of intrigue amid interest from Man City.

Owen Beck, who shone at Dundee last season and was thought to be a Hoops target last January, seems to be a more straightforward equation for the Hoops hierarchy.

Leeds United, QPR and Middlesbrough have also been touted as alternative destinations but Celtic can offer Champions League football – IF the youngster can supplant Greg Taylor‘s place in the team.

The Hoops still appear light in the left back position, although Liam Scales can play there at a push.

According to This is Anfield editor Jack Lusby, the prospect of outgoing transfers was a factor in Doak joining Kaide Gordon, Marcelo Pitaluga, Calum Scanlon, Stefan Bajcetic, James McConnell and Harvey Blair on a list of players who sat out today’s Under-21 clash with PSV.

It’s claimed too that Trey Nyoni, Tyler Morton and Beck weren’t considered as overage players as the club are currently weighing up moves.

There’s loads of talent on this list – not least midfielder McConnell who featured as a callow Anfield side won the Carabao Cup against a much-vaunted Chelsea side.

Doak, who tragically lost his grandad and former Morton footballer Martin earlier in the week, has previously said this about his departure to Anfield.

“Without being disrespectful to teams up here, the level at Liverpool, a team that got to three Champions League finals in recent years, is incredible.

“It’s the highest I’ve ever seen with my own eyes.

“It’s a must to set the bar high for my levels. The other players’ standards seem so high without trying sometimes because they’re just that good.”
