RYAN KENT’S nightmare spell at Fenerbahce could finally be about to end, according to a report.

And he could wind up FACING Rangers in Europe this season.

Kent, 27, left the Light Blues at the end of the 2022/23 season when his contract expired.

Along with the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Allan McGregor, he was one of several long-serving stars to depart Ibrox that summer.

A £7million signing from Liverpool in 2019, Kent left the Gers on a free and was quickly snapped-up by Fenerbahce.

But it’s fair to say he’s endured a nightmare spell with the Turkish giants.

After scoring on his debut in a Conference League qualifier against Zimbru in July last year, things gradually began to go wrong.

Barely a month after joining, there were already suggestions his future at Fenerbahce was in serious doubt.

Reports at the time claimed he was already being considered for a loan move to England.

Of course, that failed to materialise.

Kent’s appearances became infrequent and he was mainly used in the Conference League.

Then in January, the winger was dramatically AXED from the Fenerbahche squad to make way for new arrivals.

A surprise deadline day move to Lazio then fell through at the last minute.

His eighth an final Turkish league appearance came in early February, with the squad registration – not featuring Kent – coming into play just after that.

Kent made a further couple of appearances in the Conference League in March but didn’t feature again.

There were big changes at Fenerbahce this summer, with former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho taking over as manager.

But the early signs that a new manager wouldn’t mean a new situation for Kent.

He was quickly identified as one of six players who would be axed by Mourinho.

However, Kent made a shock return to the Fenerbahce XI last month in their Champions League qualifier with Lugano.

Starting the first leg in Switzerland, he was hooked after 68 minutes of a dramatic 4-3 win for the Turkish giants in a thriller.

Kent’s performance, however, was criticised by fans and he hasn’t played at all since.

Now, it appears he could be handed an escape route.

That’s because reports out of Turkey claim that French Ligue 1 side Nice reportedly want to sign him.

Sport Digitale claim that they have made an ‘official offer’ to Fenerbahce.

It goes on to say that the Turkish outfit are expected to accept the offer as they are keen to move Kent on.

Should Kent move to Nice, it would set up the possibility of a dramatic reunion with Rangers.

Nice are assured of a place in the Europa League league phase after finishing 5th in Ligue 1 last season.

Rangers will also be entering the Europa League after being eliminated from Champions League qualifying.

The Gers will be in pot one of the Europa League draw with Nice in pot three or four.

The new format of the draw will see Rangers paired with TWO teams from both pot three and pot four, meaning there’s a decent chance of being drawn against Nice.

Fenerbahce will also be entering the Europa League at that same stage, meaning that even if Kent stays in Turkey, there is a chance he could face Rangers.

A slim chance, however, given the fact he has found his chances of first team football limited.
