IT can't be easy when your every move is scrutinised by 42 different groups of Scottish football supporters.

But SPFL supremo Neil Doncaster has gone on record in a new podcast to say which football club HE supports.

Speaking to Kevin Day on the latest edition of the Price of Football podcast, the SPFL chief executive was asked: "For the benefit of Scotland fans are you able to publicly reveal which football team you support?"

And Doncaster revealed that his first love was Crystal Palace, although his allegiances have changed over the years.

He said: "Yes, I am very happy to do that.

"I grew up on the terraces of Selhurst Park, much like you Kevin.

"That was where my first love was, being brought up in Croydon, South London.

"But that allegiance I must confess did change when I was at Norwich City.

"When I joined them in 1997 you actually become an extreme fan as a CEO of a club, same as you would as a player.

"Then when you move on, you become slightly tainted by the experience.

"You are not really fan in the same way after you've worked in professional football.

"So these days I'm a fan of 42 SPFL clubs but the Scotland national team is probably the one team I can get fully behind."

Crystal Palace fan Day quipped: "I liked the first part of that answer!

"I'm going to get the second part edited out!"

Doncaster was in Germany in the summer just past as part of an epic Scotland exodus for the Euro 2024 finals.

Doncaster said: "I think brand Scotland came out of the tournament very, very well.

"I think the reaction that Scotland fans got from the German public was incredibly positive."
