Rangers' hopes of landing defensive target Kaiky from Almeria have taken another hit after the Spanish side detailed their plan for the youngster.

Record Sport Online previously told how the Segunda Division outfit had booted out an offer from the Light Blues for the centre-back. A loan with a fee of €750,000 that includes a €7m option to buy and a 30 per cent sell on fee was knocked back according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano as Philippe Clement attempts to bring in fresh faces ahead of the deadline next week.

Now reports from Spain from leading publication Marca state that his current employers are confident the stopper will stay at the club and that he has a bright future ahead of him. They report: "The Almería club is confident that the young centre-back has a great future and believes that it would be good for him to continue accumulating minutes in the Second Division, in this case with the red and white shirt ."

It comes as Clement conceded he needs to shift bodies to bring in new arrivals. We exclusively revealed that Ben Davies is on the verge of a loan to Birmingham City with an option to buy while Rabbi Matondo is also being watched by Blackburn Rovers. Ianis Hagi and Todd Cantwell are also available for other clubs to purchase.

The Belgian stated: “I told you guys already weeks ago, there’s been a clear talk with Hagi about [his future] before pre-season started.

“Todd made his own opinion about things, why he wanted to leave. So those are decisions made for me. It’s seeing what’s a good deal for them but also for the club. And I will hear when it’s the case.”

Gers require upgrades across the pitch but with the clock ticking, Clement will prioritise where he is allowed to spend the little cash he has. Quizzed on how many players he’d like to bring in, he said: “I will never respond to that question – if I put a number on that and it’s less, you guys will point out there’s a problem between me and the board.

“It doesn’t work that way. The most important thing for every club is to get the right players in, to get the right quality. And everybody is in the club, I know, working really hard on that.

“I’m confident [business will be done]. I believe in the club, I believe in the recruitment. But I also know in one transfer period, it will be impossible to do everything we want to do.”
