Pedro Porro seriously impressed by Tottenham teammate after 4-0 win over Everton

Tottenham Hotspur thrashed an out-of-sorts Everton on Saturday afternoon to claim their first three points of the new season.

Ange Postecoglou’s side started like a house on fire and were deservedly 2-0 up in less than half an hour, thanks to goals from Yves Bissauma and Son Heung-min.

Tottenham dropped points at Leicester on Monday night and their fans were frustrated by the lack of ruthless nature on show at the King Power.

But for Tottenham’s opening Premier League home game, they were a different proposition and Pedro Porro was certainly loving the performance of one of his teammates, in particular.

It wasn’t until the 71st minute that Spurs scored their third goal when Cristian Romero headed home following a corner.

Five minutes, later captain Son was netting his second of the match, but a lot of the work was done by an unlikely source.

Micky van de Ven is known for his pace and the Dutchman was able to showcase that in abundance when he ran from the edge of his own box to the edge of the opposition’s.

An already deflated and beaten Everton just sat back and watched van de Ven run a mile, pick out Son, who waited for Jordan Pickford to charge forward, before slotting the ball past him at a tight angle.

After the game, Porro lauded van de Ven and wrote ‘what a player’ in the comments section of Yves Bissouma’s Instagram post – the Dutchman was reacting to the midfielder’s performance.

Porro then went to Van de Ven’s Instagram post to tell him to ‘stop running’ following his assist for Son’s goal.

‘What a player’, Porro told van de Ven before adding ‘Can you stop running? Thanks, added with a laughing emoji.

Tottenham clean sheet

Yes, it was against an Everton side in a world of trouble, but a clean sheet is a clean sheet. Plus, this Everton side caused them issues last season.

Tottenham’s biggest problem has been their defence and not being able to handle the pressure when the heat is on them or attack to defend by killing off the game.

Romero was criticised against Leicester, but scored and was back to his best again.

Despite that, the London club still need to dip into the summer transfer market – before Friday’s deadline – and bring in more depth, especially with a tough European campaign coming up.

Radu Dragusin is the back-up centre-back, but after him, there is no one and that’s where the big problems lie for Spurs and their manager.
