Jose Mourinho shows true colours as former Man United star Fred nets Fenerbahce hat-trick

Fenerbahce were 5-0 winners against Rizespor after former Manchester United midfielder Fred helped himself to a first career hat-trick at the Caykur Didi Stadium.

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho showed his true colours with a superb interaction with Fred after the former Manchester United midfielder scored a hat-trick for the Turkish giants.

Fred stole the show on Sunday night at the Caykur Didi Stadium as the 31-year-old netted a first career hat-trick in a 5-0 win. It was a result that put Fenerbahce second in the Super Lig standings.

No wonder Mourinho was in such a jovial mood on the touchline. The former United manager - who signed Fred a few months before he was sacked by the Old Trafford giants - was spotted having a laugh and joke with the Brazil international after subbing him off for a rest.

Fred opened the scoring from long-range on 15 minutes, while the 32-cap midfielder netted two more goals in the second half to take home the match-ball and lead Fenerbahce to victory. Edin Dzeko and Husniddin Aliqulov - who turned into his own net - gunned down sixth-placed Rizespor.

It was an eventful game overall for Fred as his treble came after a fourth-minute booking. After leading the charge, the 31-year-old was taken off with 81 minutes on the clock to a standing ovation and, at that stage, the Portuguese made a beeline for his match-winner in the dugout.

The exact conversation between them was inaudible from a beIN Sports clip on social media. However, it was also pretty clear Mourinho was having a laugh with Fred, who smiled back and joked with a point of his own.

Fred ended the ten-second clip by pointing jokingly at his manager before sitting down. Fred left United for Turkey last summer after totting-up 213 games for the Premier League club with 14 goals and 18 assists.

His record for Fenerbahce reads 38 matches, six goals and nine assists. The hat-trick doubled his overall tally.
