Under-fire Rangers captain James Tavernier could STILL move to Turkey – here’s why

JAMES TAVERNIER ran the gauntlet of Rangers fans on Sunday night after leading the team through a Celtic Park drubbing.
The under-fire skipper was singled out for criticism by one irate Bear on Edmiston Drive after the 3-0 defeat to OId Firm rivals Celtic.
He hasn't hit the heights of previous seasons this term - last season he hit 24 goals to add to 18 the year previous.
Infact Tavernier in enduring his most BARREN scoring spell for three and a half years - and hasn't found the net since mid-March.
But his previous prowess did enough to tempt Turkish side Trabzonspor to test Rangers' resolve with a transfer bid earlier this summer.
Tavernier's Gers career had been in question with bosses believed to be open to selling their skipper.
But no agreement was reached and he returned to the first-team to take the armband for Philippe Clement's side for the Premiership kick-off instead of hooking up with former team-mates John Lundstram and Borna Barisic.
Ex-Gers gaffer Giovanni van Bronckhorst was also report the right wing-back and new club Besiktas, but no bid arrived via that link.
However despite the transfer trail going cold around the under-fire captain, there is still time for Turkish clubs to make their move.
The transfer window in the Super Lig doesn't shut until September 18 - meaning teams can still trade for another TWO WEEKS, and no prospect of replacements for clubs in the UK like Gers.
The window closes a little earlier in Saudi Arabia where the mega-rich Pro League clubs have until tonight (September 2) to splash their cash.
Tavernier has also been linked with a Steven Gerrard re-union - but dubbed the rumours 'old news' when he addressed them last season.
The club captain wasn't the only one to be subjected to the angry scenes outside Ibrox either, and boss Philippe Clement was spotted being confronted by supporters as he walked to collect his car.
One raging fan tells Clement it's the "poorest Rangers team for many years."
Another supporter can be held venting his fury over the fact Rangers spent millions on "a building" instead of buying players.
The boss could be heard telling one supporter: "We didn't reward ourselves, we didn't reward ourselves."
That echoed what he said in his post-match comments as he bemoaned his side missing a couple of gilt-edged early chances.
Clement can then be heard telling the fans: "They had four shots on target, we had four shots on target."
That doesn't appear to go down well with the fans, who continue venting as the manager is led away. A couple can even be heard booing.
Another video that's appeared on social media shows fans shouting "sack the board" as they head towards the main entrance of the stadium.
Veteran Leon Balogun also remonstrated with the group - and was even commended for facing up to the fan fury.
The 36-year-old - who was a late second-half substitute for Robin Propper - was commended by punters, with social media users crediting him as the "only one" of his team-mates to engage with them.
