Memphis Depay handed surprise transfer offer after furious Ronald Koeman rant
Former Manchester United forward Memphis Depay is still without a club following his exit from Spanish side Atletico Madrid at the end of last season but that could soon be about to change
Ex- Manchester United star Memphis Depay has been offered a lifeline in Brazil as his search for a club goes on.
The Dutch forward has been without an employer for three months after leaving Atletico Madrid last season at the end of his contract. He had been linked with a host of European clubs including Roma, Sevilla and Rayo Vallecano.
But it appears that his future could lie elsewhere. Reports have suggested that Brazilian top-flight side Corinithians have approached Depay with an offer.
Corinthians lodged an enquiry for his services last month and have since formalised their interest with a contract offer. The Brazilian transfer window has already closed but due to Depay being a free agent, he is able to register with a new club until September 20.

The 30-year-old made 31 appearances in all competitions for Atletico Madrid last season, scoring on nine occasions.
While he is still on the lookout for a new club, Depay will also be focusing on his commitments with the Dutch national team. Ronald Koeman still handed him a place in his most recent squad for upcoming clashes with Bosnia and Germany despite being clubless.
The former Everton and Barcelona boss was questioned by a journalist for that decision and launched into a brutal rant in response. Asked about Depay by a reporter, he replied: "Valentijn... show some respect in your questions. Never delivered?
"Unfortunately they never pick someone else at your newspaper too. Show some respect in your questions to these players. I take a lot from you, now take this lesson from me."

It is not the first time that Koeman has been drawn into a rant involving one of his forwards. He recently took aim at ex-Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn for his move to Al-Ittihad and said he would never be selected for the national team while he played in Saudi Arabia.
“The book is basically closed,” he said in a press conference. “I think that when you’re 26, the ambition should be sporting and not financial.
"He could have stayed at Ajax, that’s not bad either. And I think they pay pretty well there too. Anyway, everyone has a different view and it’s their choice. I personally wouldn’t have made it.”
Asked whether he had spoken with Bergwijn ahead of the move, he added: "I think he would have known what I would have said.”
