LUCKLESS Rangers star Danilo is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a fresh injury setback.

The Brazilian star has had appalling luck since arriving in the Scottish game, after breaking a cheekbone and then sustaining a serious knee injury shortly after his return.

He was visibly emotional when scoring his first goal since his return from the bench during the 6-0 win over St Johnstone at Hampden.

Then today the former Ajax and Feyenoord man was surprisingly omitted from the club's Europa League squad today - along with Welsh winger Rabbi Matondo.

SunSport understands that Danilo has suffered a fresh injury setback.

He's been allowed to return to the Netherlands to undergo rehabilitation and faces a MINIMUM of a month on the sidelines.

Rangers were previously forced to deny that the star had aggravated the injury when he was spotted limping heavily at a clash at Hampden.

But now the truth is out there - with the Gers set to rely even more heavily on Cyriel Dessers and new boy Hamza Igamane.

Matondo, meanwhile was injured during the weekend defeat to Celtic.

And SunSport understands the winger could face up to eight weeks out.

Danilo said recently that he will do everything he can to get back to full fitness, saying: “They have seen that I will always try to bring everything I can on the field and I want to help the team as much as possible with the goals.

“Last year was not my year. I had some good numbers and some goals and assists but I think now I know everybody in the building and there are fresh players.

Kris Boyd joins the show to discuss Dessers' controversial goal and asks what is going on with Danilo as well as assessing Maeda's contribution to Celtic as a striker

"I will do my best to score as many goals as possible and hopefully not have the bad luck with the injuries. I want to help the boys as much as possible and contribute to be part of this squad.

"It is important that we stick together and work hard as much as we can and bring as many victories as well.

"That is my message to the Rangers fans. I will do more than 120 per cent of myself. I want to score as many goals as possible and I will do my best to make that happen."
