Former Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst has reportedly been involved in a confrontation with Netherlands teammate Jurrien Timber during a training session.

The pair both came on as substitutes for Ronald Koeman's Dutch side in their 5-2 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday night in Eindhoven. Weghorst scored after coming on, while Timber played almost 30 minutes following Nathan Ake's substitution.

The incident may cast doubt on Weghorst's participation in the upcoming match against Germany on Tuesday night, as he reportedly left the training early due to the dispute with Timber. According to Dutch news outlet AD.nl, Weghorst, formerly on loan at United, was incensed by what he perceived as an aggressive foul by Timber.

The tension prompted Koeman to reportedly intervene, exclaiming "and now it's done," as Weghorst continued his complaints. An image has emerged online showing Weghorst removing his training top and walking away in frustration.

Weghorst has been a mainstay in the Dutch national team since returning to the squad before the 2020 European Championships. After the World Cup in Qatar, the 32-year-old has netted eight times in 21 games.

He has started only 11 games from the 53 times he's been named in the squad, with Joshua Zirkzee the current first-choice under Koeman after his form with Bologna and move to United.
