Ryan Kent transfer mystery as ex Rangers star 'turns down' Scotland return with Turkish clues pointing to £5m fix

The winger has struggled to make any impression during a nightmare spell in Istanbul

Fenerbahce misfit Ryan Kent reportedly turned down a move to Scotland this summer - as the former Rangers star attempts to force the club into a bumper contract termination.

The wide man has endured a torrid time since swapping Ibrox for Istanbul in the summer of 2023 after the end of his contract with the Scottish Premiership side - having been frozen out by then-boss Ismail Kartal and failing to earn a second chance this term under Jose Mourinho. The Englishman has made just one appearance so far this season - in a Champions League qualifying back in July - and reports in Turkey suggest he has been frozen out of the first-team picture and is training alone.

In January, the 27-year-old turned down a loan move Lazio - and it appears he has dug his heels in again last summer with former Manchester United and Chelsea boss Mourinho keen to move the winger on. Aspor report that the winger rejected approaches from Scotland and England.

It is claimed he has also said no to the idea of moving to the Saudi Arabia as he 'clearly' doesn't want a move to the Pro League. Kent and his representatives are now reportedly locked in talks over a termination of his contract that will see the 'player paid his full contract fee.'

Kent is contracted until the summer of 2027 and Hurriyet report that he earns £1.7m per year as a base salary in Istanbul. Should the forward get his wish Fener would be left to pay out around £5m to move Kent on.
