Aston Villa have 16 players out on loan this season from the likes of Philippe Coutinho to youngsters taking their first steps in first-team football.

Unai Emery's squad was too full to carry the seven first-team players who headed out on loan, including three new signings Lewis Dobbin, Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea. Leander Dendoncker and Alex Moreno, who both headed out on loan at the end of the summer window, could leave Villa permanently next year.

As could Philippe Coutinho, who has less than two years on his Villa deal and is currently on loan at his boyhood club in Brazil. Kaine Kesler-Hayden was allowed to leave on his fifth loan move in three years as he joined Championship side Preston North End for the season.

Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho returned to his first club Vasco da Gama on loan in July, but is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury. He has made a total of four appearances, including three off the bench in the league. The 32-year-old's only start came in Vasco's 1-1 draw with Atletico Clube Goianiense in the Copa Do Brasil.

Lewis Dobbin

Dobbin joined West Brom for the season back in July and has featured off the bench in each of the Baggies' first four Championship games, totalling 38 minutes of action so far. The winger played 72 minutes of West Brom's 2-1 defeat to Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden

Kesler-Hayden impressed in pre-season and signed a new contract in the summer, but was allowed to leave on loan. There was no shortage of interest in him, but Preston won the race for the right-back. He has started North End's last two league games, a win over Luton and defeat to Oxford.

Alex Moreno

Following Ian Maatsen's arrival at Villa, Moreno was allowed to depart on loan with Lucas Digne also in Emery's squad. Nottingham Forest have an option to buy Moreno, who has impressed on his debut for the Reds against Newcastle in the EFL Cup. The 31-year-old was an unused substitute in Forest's last game, a 1-1 draw with Wolves.

Samuel Iling-Junior

Given the competition for places in his position in the Villa squad, Iling-Junior was allowed to depart on loan for the season following his permanent transfer from Juventus in June. The winger was an unused substitute in Bologna's home draw with Empoli before the September international break.

Enzo Barrenechea

Barrenechea joined Valencia on loan in the final days of the summer window and could make his debut for the Spanish club this weekend. Ruben Baraja's side play away against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

Leander Dendoncker

Dendoncker returned to Anderlecht on loan before the summer window closed for Belgian clubs earlier this month. The midfielder could join Anderlecht permanently next year as they hold an option to buy.

Tommi O'Reilly

O'Reilly has featured in all eight of Shrewsbury Town's fixtures so far this season and has recorded two assists in all competitions. The 20-year-old has impressed under Paul Hurst in the first month of the campaign.

Josh Feeney

Centre-back Feeney returned to Bodymoor Heath last month after being sidelined with a hamstring injury, but is now back at Shrewsbury after overcoming the injury. He made his debut in their 3-0 defeat to Wrexham last time out.

Filip Marschall

Goalkeeper Marschall has kept two clean sheets in his first five League Two games with Crewe Alexandra. The 21-year-old has made a total of seven appearances across all competitions and is Lee Bell's number one at Gresty Road.

Louie Barry

Barry has started his second loan spell at Stockport just like he did his first, scoring goals. The forward has been on fire at the start of this season having bagged three times in four League One appearances and once in the EFL Trophy in the win over Accrington Town.

Lino Sousa

Sousa will spend the season at Bristol Rovers this term and made his debut for the Gas in a 2-0 win over Cambridge United. He then played 23 minutes of the 2-1 defeat to Barnsley last time out.

Rico Richards

After a loan spell at Barrow last season, Richards is at League Two side Port Vale this term. He played 45 minutes of their EFL Trophy clash with Wolves U21s, but is yet to feature in the league.

James Wright

The goalkeeper was one of three Villa players to join Real Union on loan this season. He made his debut at the weekend in the 2-1 win over Osasuna B.

Finley Munroe

Versatile defender Munroe also made his debut for Real Union last weekend as he featured for 32 minutes off the bench.

Yeimar Mosquera

The Colombia youth international centre-back joined Villa from Orsomarso at the end of the summer window and immediately headed out on loan to Real Union.
