Bold Connor Goldson claim about James Tavernier rings loud amid escalating Rangers transfer exit commotion

He's in the Rangers hall of fame and has scored more goals during his career than many strikers but debate remains

It's the escalating transfer rumour which won't go away as James Tavernier continues to be linked with Besiktas before the Turkish transfer window shuts on Friday night.

A reunion with former boss Gio van Bronckhorst is the talk of Istanbul sport stations as the Dutchman has reportedly held talks with the man who was his captain during their shared time at Ibrox. Tavernier's Rangers legacy has been the subject of fierce debate during the fallout of the irate Ibrox punter haranguing him in the wake of Celtic's 3-0 trouncing last Sunday.

He's in the Rangers hall of fame and has scored more goals during his career than many strikers, but the rampaging right-back could be nearing his final chapter after nine years in Glasgow. And former team-mate Connor Goldson fired a warning last that it would be foolhardy to take Tavernier for granted, Speaking after last season's Viaplay Cup Final win over Aberdeen, the straight-talking Brummie, said: "He doesn't stop. It's the same old, he does it every single year and I've said it for a long time, this football club won't appreciate him as much until he's gone."

And that theory could be put to the test with Besiktas – with a 100 per cent record in the Super Lig under van Bronckhorst – eyeing a blockbuster finale in the coming days.
