Piers Morgan has offered to make a £10,000 bet for charity with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, following Cristiano Ronaldo's criticism of the Dutchman.

Ronaldo second spell at United ended in 2022 after he criticised the club and Ten Hag in a bombshell interview with Morgan. The forward's contract was ultimately terminated and he ended up joining Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

And Ronaldo has now reignited his feud with Ten Hag, stating: "You can't rebuild a club you don't understand". He also criticised Ten Hag for publicly stating that United cannot compete for the Premier League and Champions League.

Ronaldo told the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast: "Manchester United, they need to rebuild everything, in my opinion. The coach, they say they cannot compete to win the Premier League and Champions League.

"Manchester United coach, you cannot say that you’re not going to fight to win the League or Champions League. You have to be, to mentally say, 'listen maybe we don’t have that potential, but I cannot say that. We’re going to try. You have to try.'

"If Ten Hag listens to Ruud, maybe he can help the club," he said. "I think he can help a lot. And the club should listen to the players who played there. You [ Rio Ferdinand ] or Roy Keane or Paul Scholes or Gary Neville, whoever it is, Sir Alex Ferguson. You can't rebuild a club you don't understand."

Ten Hag has since responded to Ronaldo's comments, telling reporters: "He is far away in Saudi, far away from Manchester, so everyone can have an opinion and is entitled to have an opinion, so it's okay.

"We will see where we are in May next year. It's very early in the season and it's about winning trophies, being as high as possible in the league, doing everything to win every game and then we will see in May where we are in the league."

However, Morgan has now weighed in on the situation, challenging Ten Hag to a £10,000 bet. Taking to social media, Morgan wrote: "Ronaldo won 3 Premier League trophies and a Champions League trophy at United. I’ll bet Ten Hag £10,000 to charity he never wins either at United."
