£59m transfer plan to steal Jacob Ramsey away from Aston Villa revealed
The latest Aston Villa transfer news as the club receive a fresh warning of Inter Milan interest in midfielder Jacob Ramsey
Aston Villa have been warned they could have to fend off Inter Milan next summer, who have reportedly hatched a thorough scheme to sign Jacob Ramsey next summer.
Fresh from a summer of battling with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), one of the biggest wins of the period was keeping hold of Ramsey whilst sticking to the letter of the law. It wasn't a simple task though, as Tottenham Hotspur evidently thought they could capitalise on the opportunity and snag Villa's homegrown talent.
"If we wanted to sell Jacob Ramsey, we would have sold him already because we had different offers from different clubs,” said Monchi. "But Unai [Emery] has big confidence in him and I think that Jacob can continue to improve his level."
A broken metatarsal in his foot hampered the 23-year-old's progress last term, though getting back to full fitness he and Villa will be hoping he can kick on without fitness doubts or transfer worries looming overhead.
But unfortunately it seems the latter aspect will just not disappear, as now it is not Spurs but Italian giants Inter with the eyes set on Villa's prized midfielder. According to InterLive, he has been identified as a long-term successor to 35-year-old Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who will be out of contract in 2026.
They would allegedly look to complete a €35m (£29.5m) deal, preferably for Inter made up with as many bonuses and clauses as possible, next summer. Their attraction stems from Ramsey's technical ability and versatility to play in an attacking midfield role, on the flanks and also as a central midfielder.
Lastly, it is stated that if he were to reach his full potential in Serie A then down the line they could look to resell the player for at least double what they pay for the player, so €70m (£59m).
