Donny van de Beek makes his feelings very clear on Man Utd after nightmare Old Trafford spell
Donny van de Beek has spoken out about his time at Manchester United, with the midfielder looking to rebuild his career at Girona following a nightmare spell at Old Trafford
Donny van de Beek has insisted he does not have a single bad word to say about his time at Manchester United.
Van de Beek joined United from Ajax in 2020 for a fee of around £35million, but he struggled for gametime at Old Trafford and made just six Premier League starts across four seasons. He also endured disappointing loan spells at Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt, before making a permanent move to Girona this summer.
Girona paid a reported €450,000 (£380,000) up front for the Dutchman, illustrating just how far his star has fallen since he joined United. However, Van de Beek believes did "learn a lot" at Old Trafford despite not getting many minutes.
"I try to enjoy myself again and I do that," Van de Beek told ESPN, as per Sport Witness. "It (Girona) is a beautiful club with good football, and I think I can help with that and I am working hard on that. It is clear that nothing has come of it for either party.

Of course I didn’t play a lot, but I did learn a lot. With good players around me and good people within the club. I will take those things with me into the future."
After completing his move to Girona, Van de Beek also thanked the United supporters for making his time in Manchester a special one. In a post on social media, he wrote: "Today is a memorable day as my adventure at the club comes to an end.
"I want to thank you all for your support throughout the years. From the moment we arrived at Manchester United, we felt extremely welcome and we are grateful for that. Thank you to everyone at the club for making us feel at home.
"A special thanks to all the fans that made these years unforgettable. Besides the football, the birth of our two children here ensures that Manchester will always have a special place in our hearts. Good luck to everybody, we’ll meet again."
Van de Beek picked up an assist as he made his Girona debut off the bench in their 4-0 win over Osasuna last month and the club currently sit fifth in La Liga as they look to build on last season's impressive third-place finish, despite the departures of key players like Artem Dovbyk and Savinho.
