Arsenal have had a world-record £930,000 bid turned down for England midfielder Kiera Walsh in the final hours of the Women's Super League transfer window. The 27-year-old, who has won two European and domestic titles each with the Spanish club, has one year left on her Barca contract but is a "key player" for the European champions going into the new season.

Arsenal have been denied in their late pursuit of Keira Walsh after Barcelona rejected a world-record bid in the final hours of the Women’s Super League (WSL) transfer window.
The Gunners reportedly offered £930,000 for the England star, who joined the Spanish giants from Manchester City in 2022 for a then-world record fee of £400,000.
Barcelona have until Monday to sign players, while the WSL window slammed shut at 11pm UK time on Friday.
On Thursday, Barcelona head coach Pere Romeu told the media there was “no chance” the 27-year-old would depart the European Champions.
“She's been with us throughout pre-season and is a key player for us,” he said.
"She totally gets our style of play, is super professional, and has shown an amazing attitude and commitment from day one. We're definitely counting on her this season."

Walsh started the club’s Liga F opener on Friday, where Barca beat Real Sociedad 3-1, assisting Caroline Graham Hansen for the first goal.
The midfielder has one year remaining on her contract and reportedly told the club that she does not wish to renew her deal.
She will likely leave the club as a free agent next summer, if a deal is not struck by then.
In two illustrious years at Barcelona, Walsh has become a back-to-back domestic and European champion while adding two Spanish Super Cups as well as a Spanish Cup.
She has played 79 times for the European heavyweights and scored three goals.
In England, she spent nine years at Man City and played for the club 211 times after joining from Blackburn Rovers in 2014.
Her form in the WSL at Man City helped her earn a place in the England squad, where she has racked up 77 caps since making her debut in 2017.
Walsh played a key role in Sarina Wiegman’s Euro 2022 winning side, anchoring the midfield alongside Georgia Stanway.
