Why Lee Hendrie 'felt sorry' for Wycombe after what Jhon Duran did in Aston Villa win
Aston Villa progressed to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup by beating Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 at Adams Park
Lee Hendrie admits he felt sorry for Wycombe Wanderers after claiming Jhon Duran bought a penalty in Aston Villa's win over the League One side in the Carabao Cup.
The Colombia international made his first start of the season after his impressive appearances off the bench, where he has bagged four goals in five matches. Emi Buendia broke the deadlock against Wycombe at Adams Park by heading in after Kadan Young's deflected cross.
Duran then linked up with Ross Barkley before winning a penalty 30 minutes after Buendia's opener. He appeared to initiate contact with goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli before being awarded the spot-kick, which he converted in front of the away supporters.

"They [Villa] were fortunate, it's not a penalty for me and you have to feel sorry for them [Wycombe] because they defended relatively well with Jhon Duran, he didn't have a lot," Hendrie said on Sky Sports. "The defender just backs off and he clips his own heels by the looks of things, but there's no VAR.
"That probably would have been overturned because I don't think that's a pen. The goalkeeper comes out and doesn't have that impact on Jhon Duran, and to be honest with you, the referee has a good view of it as well."
Former Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth added: "It's a tough decision for the referee because of the speed and he's without VAR. The positive is that he stuck the penalty away with aplomb. He has kept that magnificent ratio going.
"For me, probably didn't deliver as much as he had promised in the substitute appearances, but he got the penalty and stuck it away. But it definitely wasn't a penalty."
