Manuel Ugarte shows his true colours with Manchester United message after FC Twente draw

Manuel Ugarte was not happy with his own performance after Man United drew 1-1 with FC Twente in the Europa League on Wednesday night.

Summer signing Manuel Ugarte was critical of his own performance following Manchester United's 1-1 draw with FC Twente in their Europa League opener at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

The Uruguayan, who joined United from Paris Saint-Germain last month, made his second start for the club, starting alongside Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes in midfield. Ugarte, whose only previous start was in last week's 7-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, produced four tackles, two interceptions and two clearances.

However his passing at times was a little bit suspect, resulting in him ending the game with an 81 per cent passing accuracy. In his defence, though, it was a poor display from United across the board.

Nevertheless, Ugarte has set very high standards for himself, admitting when joining the club that he will "give everything" to help them try and make progress.

Posting on Instagram after Wednesday night's game, Ugarte said: "The first to make self-criticism. It wasn't a great match personally. We have to keep working."

Ugarte, despite Wednesday night's frustrations, will be hoping to bag his first Premier League start when Tottenham Hotspur visit Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. His two league appearances for the Reds thus far have been via the bench.

Alejandro Garnacho, who was a second half substitute against Twente, also took to social media to share his frustrations. Posting on Instagram, he said: "Frustrating start in Europe. See you on Sunday!"

The Argentine will be hoping to reclaim his place in the starting line-up against Spurs after being dropped to the bench against Twente. He had started the two previous matches against Barnsley and Crystal Palace.
