Bryan Mbeumo transfer admission speaks volumes as Thomas Frank makes Ivan Toney point
Bryan Mbeumo has become Brentford's main man following Ivan Toney's departure and he again found the net in Saturday's draw with West Ham, leaving Thomas Frank to make his delight clear with the South Africa star
Bryan Mbeumo is fast becoming the next Brentford striker on the conveyor belt to the very top.
Ollie Watkins was the first with his switch to Aston Villa. This summer England star Ivan Toney, albeit to the mega-money on offer in Saudi rather than a member of England's elite, followed. Now, with five goals so far this season, including Saturday’s remarkable strike against West Ham after just 38 seconds, Mbeumo seems destined for similar.
Certainly, Bees boss Thomas Frank thinks so, despite insisting nothing is inevitable. The Dane, fast approaching his seventh anniversary at the helm, insists: “He was our biggest miss for four months last year, even with Toney out.
“He was our key player and has added another layer this season with five goals in six games. That’s incredible and he’s creating chances.

“We convinced him to stay and he’s very happy. All our players might need to leave us one day but a lot of them are happy because we have a top environment, with good people. We push each other.”
Mbeumo's goal against West Ham saw the Bees score in the opening minute for the third consecutive game, a Premier League record. Yoane Wissa began the hot streak when he scored after 22 seconds at Manchester City a fortnight ago, and last weekend Mbeumo netted in 23 seconds against Tottenham.
"We work a lot in training to score every time, whether it's a set piece or open play," said Mbeumo. "It's a lot of work and I do a lot of finishing during the training."
