Man City star Matheus Nunes to face no further action over 'stealing mobile phone' claims

Manchester City star Matheus Nunes will face no further action after claims he 'stole a man's phone' over the international break from reports in Spain are said to be false

Manchester City star Matheus Nunes will face no further action following reports he was arrested after an altercation in a Spanish nightclub.

The Portuguese midfielder was not included in his country's international squad for September's Nations League fixtures so spent time in the Spanish capital - where the altercation is said to have occurred.

Initial reports suggested that Nunes was arrested and later questioned at a police station after they were called to the venue.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the rumours are false and the police took no action when responding to a call regarding the alleged incident.

Spanish outlet El Mundo, relayed in the Daily Mail, claimed that Nunes took a man's phone at a nightclub after he tried to photograph the midfielder. It was also claimed that Nunes then refused to return the phone which led to police being called and Nunes being arrested, before later being released.

While the initial report suggested that Nunes could face charges and trial, the Manchester Evening News claim that the incident was exaggerated and that he only pushed the phone out of the man's hand.

Police did turn up to the club but no arrest was made and no further action will be taken. Nunes started in The Citizens' recent 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League and is fighting to establish himself as a first-team regular under Pep Guardiola.

They take on Fulham next in the Premier League, where Nunes will be available.
