Aston Villa earned a memorable 1-0 win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The Villans fought tooth and nail against Vincent Kompany's team, who dominated possession in the second half. And Jhon Duran's winning goal will go down in history at Villa Park as Unai Emery's side secured a famous victory.

Villa have now won both of their Champions League fixtures so far after easing past Young Boys 3-0 last time out. Their next European fixture will be against Bologna on October 22 after the international break.

Villa will now be full of confidence heading into their clash against Manchester United at Villa Park on Sunday. Below are a few moments you may have missed from Wednesday's game...

Shaw tribute

This was a fitting way for Villa to commemorate their legendary former striker. The forward helped Villa beat tonight's visitors in the 1982 European Cup final.

And the Villans paid tribute to their legendary former player on the back of their programme before fans sung his name on the 82nd minute.

Sub subbed off

Three players looked to have been substituted due to injury. The most puzzling was Leon Bailey, who had come on for the injured Jacob Ramsey in the first half.

Bailey himself looked puzzled when his number was shown to make way for Ian Maatsen. The other injury worry was Amadou Onana, who came off for Ross Barkley. It's a concern for Unai Emery with John McGinn currently out injured too.

Musiala's class

Jamal Musiala's introduction in the second half looked to have changed the game. The German international's class was on display as Bayern Munich dominated possession for the second half.

It was to the Villans' credit that they held firm before Duran's famous winner. This was a night Villa fans will never forget.

Familiar face returns

Bayern's assistant manager Aaron Danks is a familiar face in B6. The 39-year-old was assistant to Dean Smith and Steven Gerrard at Villa Park for several years.

Danks went on to become Villa's interim boss before Unai Emery's appointment in October 2022. He left Villa in December of that year to join Michael Carroick's backroom staff at Middlesbrough before joining Vincent Kompany in Germany this summer.

West Brom presence

The Baggies are a long way from Champions League football. Or are they?

A Villa fan on social media spotted a police officer at Villa Park with the West Brom badge on their uniform. "Well it's the closest they will get to Champions League," the cheeky Villa supporter quipped.
