Former Manchester United star Donny van de Beek posted an emotional message after scoring his first goal in more than two years.
Van de Beek's time as a United player officially came to an end in the summer after he was sold to La Liga club Girona. A deal worth an initial €450,000 (£380,000) was agreed for the 27-year-old, with the fee potentially reaching up to €4.5million (£3.8million).
The last appearance for Van de Beek for United came as a late substitute in September 2023 against Crystal Palace. He finished his career at Old Trafford with just two goals to his name across 62 appearances. Van de Beek is now a Girona player and featured for the Spanish club against Feyenoord in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The La Liga outfit lost 3-2, with Van de Been equalising at 2-2 in the 73rd minute before an own goal from Ladislav Krejci secured the victory for Feyenoord.

Van de Beek posted a message on social media after the landmark goal in his career.
"We deserved more, but we keep going," wrote Van de Beek on Instagram. "Grateful to have scored my first goal in the Montilivi. Thanks for all the support."
Van de Beek spent the second half of last season on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he made just eight appearances. Before that, the former Ajax star had featured just twice for United and was handed just 21 minutes of action by Ten Hag before moving to Germany on loan in the New Year.
