Chris Davies gives Krystian Bielik and Tomoki Iwata injury updates after Birmingham City rout
Chris Davies discussed Birmingham City's injury list after the 4-0 win over Shrewsbury Town
Chris Davies expects Birmingham City captain Krystian Bielik to miss ‘a few weeks at the very least’ with the ankle injury he sustained in the defeat to Charlton on Saturday.
Bielik missed Blues’ 4-0 rout of Shrewsbury Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday evening. Scott Wright (2), Tomoki Iwata and Emil Hansson bagged Blues’ goals at The Croud Meadow.
Davies was asked about Bielik’s fitness after the game and said: “He got a bit of a nasty ankle knock at the weekend so he looks like he will be a few weeks at the very least.”
Iwata had to be withdrawn at half-time in Blues’ latest win due to an ankle injury of his own. Fortunately for Blues, Davies sounded more positive on the Japanese midfielder’s withdrawal.

“Tomoki got a knock on the ankle that he felt he couldn’t run off in the end,” added the Blues boss. “I’m not sure on the extent of it, I don’t think it looks too bad on first look, but we will see tomorrow.”
Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s name has also been added to Blues’ injury list after the goalkeeper returned early from Northern Ireland duty due to a shoulder issue. Davies revealed Peacock-Farrell has been struggling with the problem since the Peterborough United game which, coincidentally, was his last between the sticks before Ryan Allsop replaced him.
“He’s come back to us and we’re looking at it and assessing where he is,” Davies said. “He’s had this knock since the Peterborough game. He came out and got clattered in that game. They’ve looked at it and he needs more treatment so we will assess him in the next few days.”
