Bournemouth star Ryan Christie has reportedly donated £20k to his former side Inverness CT with the club on the verge of going into administration.

Despite the efforts of former chairman Alan Savage in trying to find a new buyer, the League One club's inability to secure investment from elsewhere now appears to have sealed their fate. Savage had forked out £200,000 of his own wealth to keep the club afloat in August, but the Highlands side are se to lose £1.2million this season - while manager Duncan Ferguson has agreed to go without a wage.

The club have launched a Go Fund Me page in a bid to raise £200,000 - which the Caley Jags say they must raise this month to stave off the immediate threat of administration. So far they have raised £73k with the biggest single donation of £20k coming from an anonymous source - which is speculated to be Scotland star Christie. Speaking to the Scottish Football Show, Steve Riley from the Wyness Shuffle podcast speculated about the source of the donation: "Not that we know, but I think it's Ryan Christie."

However, he noted the donation was a drop in the bucket as to what is needed by the 2015 Scottish Cup winners: "Thanks Ryan, but that's small change from his Bournemouth wage I think. But yeah, I think it's him."

Christie made his career breakthrough in the Highlands, before joining Celtic in 2015. He would return to Inverness on loan before going out on another temporary spell to Aberdeen, before ending his spell in Glasgow's east end when by joining the Cherries in 2021.
