Nathan Patterson set to FINALLY end Everton nightmare as repeating Rangers exit tale reaches finale

The right-back missed Euro 2024 with Scotland through injury

Luckless Nathan Patterson is reportedly set for an imminent return to Everton's first-team as he brings an end to his injury nightmare.

The Scotland right-back has not played a senior match for the Premier League outfit since rupturing his hamstring during a 6-0 defeat to Chelsea in April - which forced him to have surgery and miss Euro 2024 with his absence continuing into the new season. The 22-year-old has seen his Goodison Park career blighted by injury knocks after making a £11million switch from Rangers in January 2022 - but The Athletic report that he is closing in on a top team return.

Battling back from a position on the sidelines has been a familiar story for Patterson since he left the Scottish Premiership behind. Having been signed by Rafa Benitez, the Spaniard was shown the door after the deal with the right-back being forced to fight for minutes during Frank Lampard's tenure. Having been relegated to the sidelines by the Chelsea legend, Patterson appeared to be showing his best form under Dyche - before he picked up a knock in January during a clash with Fulham that kept him out for months.

After earning a recall to the top team at Stamford Bridge, he picked up another knocked which saw him miss the tournament in Germany. But, it is now claimed Patterson has "took a sizeable step towards a return to first-team action."

He completing 90 minutes for Everton’s Under-21s against Reading earlier this week. It is stated the Scot will be available for the next league clash with Ipswich Town "provided he suffers no adverse reaction in training."
