KRIS BOYD has begrudgingly named a Celtic hero as his Player of the Year so far this season.

The Rangers legend, 41, wishes he could wax lyrical about one of Philippe Clement's men but has instead admitted it's a Hoops star who has stole the show this term.

Boyd has watched his old rivals blow the Scottish Premiership away this season as Brendan Rodgers' side sit top of the pile after winning all seven league games.

Jimmy Thelin's Aberdeen have put up the best fight to keep up with the champions so far as they're level on points after also enjoying a perfect start to the campaign in the Granite City.

But it's Celtic who are of course the favourites to go all the way and retain the title come May.

And Boyd reckons there is one man who will be key in ensuring they lift the trophy for a fourth-consecutive year.

Nicolas Kuhn is the Ibrox icon's top pick this season and it's hard to argue with the SunSport columnist.

The German winger, 24, has been in scintillating form since the beginning of the campaign, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in just NINE domestic appearances.

He even added another assist to his stats with his pick out for Kyogo Furuhashi's goal against Slovan Bratislava last month.

And despite experiencing what was a rather stop start to his Celtic career last season, Boyd insists he always knew the wide-man would kick on in Glasgow.

Speaking on The Warm Up, the William Hill's SPFL weekly preview show, he said: "He might have started a bit slowly (last season) but there was still glimpses there where you thought yourself, there might be something there.

"It was just putting it all together, but I mean this season I think he's been outstanding."

Four or five Celtic subs would walk into Rangers starting line-up, says Kris Boyd

Kuhn being in Rodgers' starting XI is a sure thing most weeks now.

And the rest of the team pretty much picks itself too - albeit with a few changes here and there for rotation.

But the same can't be said for Philippe Clement's Rangers selection.

It's been well over a month since the summer window slammed shut and Boyd still doesn't know who should be given the nod by the Belgian most weeks.

And he believes the biggest problem facing the Belgian in Govan is that he simply doesn't know his best team either.

He added: "Listen it’s hard for me to sit here (and say), in terms of it’s a project, I don’t think Rangers Football Club should ever be a project.

"There were a lot of changes over the summer. This has been one of Rangers’ problems for a number of years now.

"I don’t think that the recruitment policy, the players that have been brought in have improved the eleven as such.

"We’re now in October, I couldn’t name Rangers’ best eleven right now, and I don’t think Philippe Clement can either, hence the reason he’s changing players every week."
