Wales v Montenegro player ratings as star clear standout and defender fantastic again

Here is how Craig Bellamy's side rated against Montenegro in tonight's 1-0 win for Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

Karl Darlow 6

Had very little to do but did well enough when called upon. Pretty calming influence with the ball at his feet but one or two wayward passes later on.

Neco Williams 7

That right-hand side was a potent weapon for Wales and Williams was crucial to that. Linked so well with Wilson and Brooks down there.

Ben Cabango 7

Looked good for Wales being in the ascendancy for much of the match, could show his quality on the ball. Made some big defensive contributions late on.

Joe Rodon 8

Been in top form for his club and continued that at Cardiff City Stadium. So rarely lets you down. A top operator and another terrific performance. Some big interventions late on.

Ben Davies 6

A few hairy moments where he gave the ball away but on the whole a reassuring presence, as ever, at the back. Andrija Radulovic caused him one or two issues after coming on.

Wes Burns 6

Bit of a mixed bag. Used his pace to great effect on occasion and offered himself in attack. Had a great heading opportunity early on that he steered wide. End product needed work.

Josh Sheehan 7

Benefitted from Wales being on the front foot and the game being played in front of him. Calm and nice passing range, kept it ticking over.

Harry Wilson 8 (star man)

Sprinkled stardust on everything he touched. Some form this guy is in. Won the penalty and slotted it away - not to mentioned the plethora of chances he created for his team-mates.

David Brooks 7

Another who got you on the edge of your seat. His low, driven shot ultimately led to the penalty. Ran strongly with the ball and caused issues.

Liam Cullen 6

Had one big chance that he lifted over the goalkeeper and the bar in the first half. A little sloppy on occasion but generally did well. Enjoyed some decent counter-attacking involvement as the game edged towards its conclusion.

Mark Harris 7

Wales benefitted from his great industry up front and he linked play nicely, setting up a couple of chances in the process. Did well against two colossal centre-backs on his first start for his country.

Joe Allen (Brooks 59) 6 - First appearance since the World Cup. Was brought on to shore things up and did so for the most part. Steady on the ball.

Nathan Broadhead (Wilson 69) 6 - Pretty bright after his introduction. Had a few opportunities - if you were being uber critical he might have done better with one or two.

Sorba Thomas (Burns 69) 6 - Had a couple of decent chances that he fashioned himself but couldn't quite get on target.
