Newcastle United supporters have singled out centre-half Fabian Schar as the player of the season so far in our recent player rating survey. ChronicleLive asked readers for their verdict of the Magpies' season so far, having made an indifferent start to the campaign.
Eddie Howe's side are just outside of the Premier League's top-four having lost just once in the opening seven top flight fixtures. The Magpies are hoping to return return to Europe come the end of the campaign, though performances will have to improve if they want to fulfil that ambition.
That rhetoric has been backed up by supporters in our recent player rating survey. Schar topped the fan list with a 7.3 rating, followed by Dan Burn 7.1 and Anthony Gordon in third with a rating of 7.0. Nick Pope and Harvey Barnes also scored a rating of 7.0, but there were only five players in Howe's squad to have been given a rating above a 7.
Will Osula was given an average rating of 4.6, but has only featured once for the Toon in the top flight, with his only start coming against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup. Miggy Almiron is another player to have struggled in the eyes of supporters, with a rating of 4.7.
There were three players given a rating between 5.0 and 5.9, with Sean Longstaff, Lloyd Kelly and Joe Willock in that bracket. You can read the rest of Newcastle supporters player ratings below.
