'I'm baffled' - Louis Saha outlines why Marcus Rashford appears to be 'frustrated' at Man United

Marcus Rashford has blown hot and cold for Man United so far this season.

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has claimed Marcus Rashford is not enjoying the brand of football the team is currently playing.

Rashford, ever since scoring 30 goals during the 2022/23 campaign, has struggled for form a consistent basis, highlighted by his tally of just eight goals last season.

The winger, who was once again left out of the England squad over the international break, has scored four goals so far this season, but his performances have continued to be indifferent.

Rashford arguably produced his best performance of the season so far in United's 3-3 draw with FC Porto in the Europa League earlier this month, scoring one goal and creating another in the first half. However, he was substituted at half-time in a bizarre move by manager Erik ten Hag.

In Saha's opinion, Rashford is not a player who will always play with a smile on his face, but he does sense that he is not currently enjoying his football, extending from the club's collective struggles.

"Marcus Rashford isn't necessarily a guy who always plays with a smile on his face, like Ronaldinho," Saha told Paddy Power. "Can you ask him to change his personality? No. In terms of his approach, sometimes he's trying to do too much, and it can be frustrating when things don't go your way.

"Everyone can be frustrated – as fans, we are frustrated, so imagine how the players feel. I'm sure that when he gets back into it and is enjoying football again, his body language will change too.

"The football that they are playing is not enjoyable. I won't say it's all due to the tactics, but it's part of Marcus' job to find the right balance and communication to the fans and people that he is working with – he does need to understand that.

"I was surprised against Porto that he came off at half-time after scoring, when he's just finding his feet, and the next week he was playing. I'm baffled with the decisions sometimes."
